Happy Canada Day!

By Tracy | July 2, 2008

I hope everyone enjoyed as wonderful a Canada Day as we did! We took the kids to the hustle and bustle of Canada Day in downtown Ottawa. I think they really enjoyed it. We walked around looking at all the street performers, then walked down to the Locks on the canal.

Wyatt’s favorite part was when we had our picnic lunch on the grass by the Ottawa River where we could see the big tour boats going in and out from the dock. Without fail he announced “Big Boat!” every time the boats would come in again! It was a great spot for lunch.

After that we walked down the bike path beside the Ottawa River. It’s right behind the Parliament Buildings so we had a beautiful view. We walked until the kids both fell asleep for their afternoon naps (Wyatt in the stroller and Maya in the sling). After a while we found a quiet out of the way to stop and let the kids finish napping.

Funny enough Maya woke up soon after we got there and Wyatt napped for a good 30 - 40 mins longer. Maya had fun walking around and exploring that little area while her brother snoozed.

We walked around downtown a little more before catching the bus back home for supper and bedtime. It was a wonderful day!

By Tracy | June 26, 2008

Yesterday we enjoyed supper outside in the backyard.

My mother got me a wonderful gazebo as an early birthday present (my birthday’s not till July 14th), and it’s great in the backyard.

Supper Time Fun

By Tracy | June 21, 2008

I tried a great new bread recipe today, Rosemary Peasant Bread. It turned out really great. I even made it without a bread maker!

We had spaghetti with a nice homemade sauce and my lovely bread for supper and the kids really enjoyed it. I think this was Maya’s first pasta self-feed so she was pretty thrilled. Other than the long cleanup time, it was a wonderful dinner!

Our Weekend in Cornwall

By Tracy | June 17, 2008

So the kids and I stayed at Edith’s this weekend. It was really great. Well, it’s alway great visiting with Edith. We went to visit Edith’s Mother (who at 93 was sitting doing crossword puzzles when we got there!!!), and Edith’s sister Joan. They live at different Nursing Homes in Cornwall,so we went and spent a little time at each. Edith’s mother loves seeing the kids and is so witty and funny.

Pictures at Joan’s:

Allain came down with his brother Dan on Saturday for Father’s Day Dinner at his parents house. It was really nice to see everyone, especially my new little nephew Sean!!! I didn’t take any picture, but I’ll see if Allain’s mother did. Take my word for it . . . he’s a cutie!

I made Allain and his father both bookmarks for father’s day. I made them out of blue cardstock and some scrapbooking stickers that Edith had.  We took the kids to the mall and got their picture taken in a photo booth, then I put 2 of the pics in each bookmark. They turned out pretty cute. I’ll have to take a picture of Allain’s.

I went to that baby shower this weekend too.  It was nice to see Julie and her sister Tina. I gave Julie her present (Post below) and she loved them. I think the mommy-to-be like the sling and blanket I made too. She was really sweet and so beautiful. Such a tiny girl with the cutest little round belly sticking out in front.

Anyway, a great weekend. Here are some more picture.

Finally . . .

By Tracy | June 13, 2008

So I’m finally giving my friend Julie her Mother’s Day present. I was going to mail it to her but that was crazy expensive, so I just decided to wait till I saw her next. I’m going to a baby shower for Julie’s brother Willie and his girlfriend, so I’ll be giving it to her Sunday. Yay! She’s finished work so I doubt she’ll see this before Sunday, so I’ll post some pictures now.

I made Julie a tote bag that I think is really nice. It’s probably my favorite so far. It’s got a big funky purple flower I found at a bead store on the front pocket flap. (That was a pain to get sewn on there!!) bag1.jpgbag2.jpgbag3.jpg

I made her daughter Chloe some hair clips for her birthday in May.

And I made her little boy Alex a sock elephant (my favorite sock creature so far).

(I forgot to take a picture of Alex’s elephant but it’s the same as this one . . . just no eyes. I decided to leave a blank face, and I really liked it.)

I also made a little fluffy bear for my new little nephew Sean out of a pair of mittens. It was my first attempt at the bear, and I think it turned out pretty cute. Not great but I made it with love for my nephew, so it’s perfect!
