No One Was Stirring, Not Even A Mouse

By Tracy | November 21, 2007

It has been quite an interesting transition from crib to ‘Big Boy Bed’ for Wyatt. He has been great for bedtime! The first night he took about an hour and a half to fall asleep, but no real trauma, no crying or tantrums, he just played a while, we tucked him in 2 or 3 times and he just went to sleep in his bed himself.

The next night he just stayed in the bed with Joey,(his Cabbage Patch doll, well actually my Cabbage Patch doll, I got him when I was 3) he cried for a few minutes because he wanted us to read more stories (that’s become his new stall tactic) After he stopped crying about the stories (2 or 3 min)he just laid in bed and went to sleep.

Last night was even better, just tucked him in and he went to sleep! No crying … nothing! What an Angel! Nap Time, on the other hand, has been a little more interesting!!! I think I’m going to call him Houdini from now on! Yesterday’s nap time involved 2 hours of tuck ins and 1 hour of sleep. At first he was just playing and talking with Joey, but then I heard him running down the hall … funny thing is there’s a baby gate in his doorway! lol

I tuck him back in, he gets back out! I’d raise the gate a little higher, he’d still get out! After at least 4 jail breaks I decided to hide at the top of the stairs to see how he’s getting out.

Step 1: Throw blanket and pillow over gate (No big deal, he always threw his blanket out of his crib anyway!)

Step 2: Stick big toes in lattice work of gate and hoist yourself up

Step 3: Lean forward and throw yourself over the gate

Step 4: Gently land on the pillow and blankets you prepared in step 1

He was so shocked to look up and see me looking at him from around the corner that he cried… Awww! I tucked him back in and he went to sleep!

Today I had prepared myself for another marathon escape session, but he never ceases to amaze me! I tucked him in and didn’t hear another peep! He’s fast asleep!!! Ok…. What an Angel!

    Hi Wyatt
Your big boy bed is ready.
There are 2 koalas waiting to play with you.
I even have a gate but I hear that you can climb pretty good.
    Love, Edith
