It’s been so long!

By Tracy | May 24, 2008

I can’t believe it’s been almost a month since I’ve updated my blog! Man, time flies with two monkeys running around!

Lots has happened over the last bit of blog silence, so here are some updates:

Adventures in Potty Training

Wyatt has been out of diapers for the last month. He still wears one to bed (Not that he wants to . . . We now put his one piece PJ’s on backwards so he can’t get them off to get his diaper off!), but no diapers during the day at all. Yay!

He probably has an accident every 2 or 3 days, but mostly their because he didn’t get to the potty on time, or was too busy playing with something new and exciting to notice he had to go. But all in all, he’s doing a great job. I’m so proud of him!

I’m really glad we waited till he was really ready and didn’t pressure him before. I know he could have trained a few months ago, but I think it was sooo easy because he was really ready. He just trained in one day. Now he wears them . . . now he doesn’t!

It’s really great having only one in diapers. I’ve gone back to using cloth diapers exclusively again, now that I don’t have to wash a load of diapers everyday! This will really save us money over the summer!

We’re gonna wait a while before tackling nighttime diaperlessness! There’s no rush!

Two Toddlers

memere-and-maya-1.JPGI officially have two “toddlers” now! Maya took her first steps on Mother’s Day Weekend! She took 3 big old steps to her Memere on Saturday May 10th. It was really wonderful because Allain and his parents were all there to see those first wobbly steps.

Over the last two weeks she’s gone from 3 or 4 tentative little steps, to walking clear across the room. Even stopping halfway sometimes to regain her balance and set off again! She’s been practicing getting in a standing position without having to hold on to anything, and when she does . . . look out! She’ll be unstoppable! She’s so amazing!

Wyatt thinks it’s great that she can walk and gets so excited and laughs at her as she toddles around! He’s such a sweet big brother. He loves to push the kitchen chairs around as she walks holding on to the back of them. Holding her hands to help her walk is another big favorite of his. So cute!

I’m glad she’ll be able to walk around outside this summer. Sure will make for some busy days!

Maya My Eater

maya-corn-on-cob-1.JPGMaya has really developed a liking for food this month. She will scarf down almost anything! Bean dishes are her favorite. I still puree a lot of stuff for her (got to love a hand blender), but she eats whatever we’re eating. Pasta, stews, curries, she loves it all. She’s really getting into finger food now too, and loves to chew on anything were eating. Raw salad veggies, crackers, she even shared some corn on the cob with us!

She actually surprised me this morning though. I had made a Green Smoothie (recipe below) for Allain and I (Wyatt’s at Grandma’s today) and she stood infront of me with the ‘Feed Me’ look on her face, so I put a little smoothie on my finger and put it in her mouth. I really thought she’d make a big face and be done with it, but instead she smacked her lips and opened her mouth like a little bird wanting more!

I went and got a straw and would suck some smoothie in the straw then put the straw in her mouth and let her suck out the green goodness. She actually drank down a quarter of my glass this way! I guess I wont have any problems getting her to eat her greens!

Green Smoothie Goodness

I’ve been making some great green smoothies lately. I’ve been learning a lot about them because it’s a really easy way to get raw green in your diet. As vegans that’s quite important to us. So I’m now doing a Green Smoothie Challenge. A big green smoothie everyday for the next month! I’ll post some of my favorite recipes as I go! If you want to give it a try too, leave me a comment so I can cheer you on too! Wish me luck!

In Other News

Ok, Ok, that’s a long enough post I think. I could keep writing, but would you really keep reading! We’ve had some other adventures so I’ll post about them soon, I promise I won’t be gone another month!

Bye for now!
